In 2022 I was working as an engineer at Thoughtworks, and OpenAI released ChatGPT and started the GenAI hype explosion of that year and beyond. My familiarity with AI was only in the more traditional data science/academic sense at the time, but this time was also the advent of open source AI & ML technologies that opened the door. Before this time, I’d only found ways to teach myself data science with Python online for free, with running AI models on big GPUs was locked inside grad schools. My first look at HuggingFace’s site and I never looked back. Just kept reading the docs. There are always more docs to read.

AI for HR Dev/Tech Team Lead to Project Success

As a software engineer at Thoughtworks, I was eager to take on new challenges and contribute meaningfully to our company’s growth. The challenge I hadn’t had the opportunity to take until this project was the (to me) long strived-for role of tech lead. I partnered with PromptCamp’s leader, David Chen, and I was charged with recruiting a technical team to lead full-cycle building Interview Genie, an AI-powered interviewing copilot tool designed to streamline the candidate selection process.

Backend + Architectural Leadership @ Startup

My most recent work with a startup company is a great example of how diverse experiences can lead to exciting challenges and personal growth. I took on a contract role as Senior/Lead Backend Engineer for an early-stage SaaS startup, where I had the opportunity to wear many hats and contribute significantly to their SaaS offering’s core architecture.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was leading the design and implementation of a substantial section of their online platform. I spent considerable time negotiating tradeoffs between architectural choices and business needs like time-to-market, performance requirements, and security considerations.

PromptCamp: Technical AI Training at Thoughtworks

As a software engineer at Thoughtworks, I’m always striving to learn and grow within my field. That’s why I was thrilled to be involved in the development of PromptCamp, our company’s initiative to train our employees on advanced artificial intelligence skills.

PromptCamp is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical AI knowledge and practical application, equipping our colleagues with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to our AI-driven projects. I was fortunate enough to be a key member of the leadership team for this project, working alongside talented engineers to design and deliver high-quality training materials.
